DES MOINES, Iowa -- Random acts of kindness are popping up around downtown Des Moines.

A number of coats were found Friday tied around light poles in the neighborhood near Central Iowa Shelter and Services at 1420 Mulberry St.

Each of the coats had a note reading, "If you're cold ... Please take a coat."

The notes do not say who the coats are from, but the idea has popped up in cities around the country where coats are tied outside in an effort to help homeless stay warm.
