It is going to be wet and windy today. Rain will be steady and heavy at times this morning with around 1″ possible.

Temperatures will be in the low to mid 40s through the morning but will begin to drop back to the 30s late this afternoon and evening. Some of the rain lingering in northwest Iowa may transition briefly to snow this evening.

A cold front will pass through on Christmas Eve morning. This may also bring a few light snow showers to parts of Central Iowa early Thursday morning, but no accumulation is expected.

The weather will be quiet Christmas Eve through Christmas Day. More active weather returns this weekend with rain chances on Saturday morning and possibly some snow by Monday.
