DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Powerball climbed to record heights Wednesday, reaching a prize of $500 million.

Iowans have been flooding stores to press their luck at the jackpot.

“It’s like Willy Wonka and the golden ticket. Everyone wants that ticket and the kids are telling their mom to pick numbers and filling them out,” said Diamond Love, employee at Casey’s General Store.

Hopefuls say their dreams are running wild.

“I’d go on vacation, buy a house, buy my parents a house,” Jasmine Jackson, of Des Moines, said. “I’d sit on it for a while, take care of family and have fun. And see if I want to keep working.”

Requests have been steady all day leading up to Wednesday night’s drawing.

“We’ve sold almost $2,000 [worth] today. Usually we sell $200–$500,”said Anita Morgan, assistant manager at Casey’s. “I’ve sold $110 in one shot, one person.”

From Veteran Powerball-players to newcomers without a clue, everyone’s playing. The winning numbers were announced after 10 p.m.: 02-11-47-62-63, Powerball: 17, Powerplay: 3
