IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Hawkeyes have won nine straight games and are the only team in the Big Ten undefeated in conference play to this point.

However, No. 3 Iowa is the underdog in their matchup with No. 8 Maryland on Thursday in College Park.

“Every road game in the Big Ten is tough no matter what opponent it is, whether they're the first seed or 14th seed,” Iowa forward Jarrod Uthoff said.

The Terrapins, led by Melo Trimble, are a team that’s been ranked among the best in the nation since the start of this season. They were also a popular pick among college basketball insiders to win the Big Ten outright.

It’s a challenge the Hawkeyes say they are ready for.

“A lot of top five teams are getting beat, a lot of top ten teams are getting beat,” Iowa guard Anthony Clemmons said. “So, as they say, you have to bring it every night and you can’t relax against anybody."

The game between two Big Ten contenders tips off at 6 p.m. Thursday on ESPN.
