Photos of Ankeny Firemen Shoveling Snow Goes Viral

ANKENY, Iowa — Iowans are praising the Ankeny Fire Department on social media after photos showing firefighters shoveling snow have gone viral.

The City of Ankeny Government shared photos on its Facebook Tuesday afternoon of multiple members of the fire department shoveling a driveway and sidewalk.

“More feels to warm your heart on this cold day! The Ankeny Fire Department had a medical call today, while the EMS crew was inside assisting the person the fire crew helped out by shoveling their drive and sidewalk!” the Facebook post reads.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the post reached more than 257,000 people and garnered nearly 10,000 likes and over 300 comments.

People writing on the post are praising the firefighters for their above-and-beyond service.

“What a great fire department we have. Have met some of them and they are great people!! Thank you for helping the people while on the call!!” Carol Hunter Lilly wrote.

“That’s REALLY Protecting and Serving! WAY TO GO!” Bill Scrivner wrote.
