CORALVILLE, Iowa — A Union County man who pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree murder back in January is dead, in what appears to be a suicide.
An official with the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale, where inmates are first brought into the state prison system, confirms Jerry Dillinger was found in his cell Wednesday night hanging from a bed sheet. He was transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
No foul play is suspected but an investigation into the death is underway.
Dillinger pleaded guilty January 22nd to the murders of Michael Robinson and Loretta Dillinger. Loretta was Jerry’s ex sister-in-law and Michael was the boyfriend of his niece. Loretta’s body was discovered in a farm pond near Lorimor in December. Michael Robinson’s body was found nearby during the investigation into Loretta’s death.
