WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Authorities have arrested the driver they say hit and killed a Tennessee man in West Des Moines last August.

West Des Moines police say 37-year-old Ronald Hauser, of Van Meter, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and first offense OWI.

Hauser is accused of striking and killing 21-year-old Daulton Holly on Aug. 23, 2015 in the 6400 block of Raccoon River Drive.

Police say the investigation was able to link parts of the vehicle left at the scene to the vehicle Hauser was driving. Officers seized the vehicle they believed to be involved a few days after the accident.

"It is important to us since the victim was not here to tell us what happened," said West Des Moines Police Sgt. Jason Bryan. "We were able to piece it together and find out what happened."

Surveillance video from businesses in the area was helpful to police in their investigation.

Hauser turned himself in to police Tuesday and has already been released on bond.
