Strong Winds Bringing Warm Weather to Iowa

Breezy west winds this afternoon will help temperatures boost into the upper 50s and lower 60s throughout Central Iowa, just be sure to hold onto your hat as gusts are expected to peak around 40 to 50 mph.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the northern half of the viewing area (North of Hwy 30) until 4pm, gusts up to 60 mph expected.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the southern half of the viewing area (I-235 and south) until 6pm, gusts up to 50 mph expected.

Normal highs are around 37° in mid-February, but we’ll be in the 50s and 60s to finish out the weekend. The record high today is 70 set on this day in 1930.
