STATE BASKETBALL: Centennial, Pocahontas Area Bring Home Titles

DES MOINES - Ankeny Centennial won their first girls 5A  basketball title in school history on Saturday beating top ranked Johnston 46-42.

Tasha Vipond led the way with 17 points 8 rebounds for the Jags.  Johnston was led by Taryn Knuth who scored 17 points.

Mason City won the Class 4A championship beating Pella 51-44.  Future Hawkeye Makenzie Meyer scored 25 points for the Mohawks.

And in class 3A Pocahontas Area held off Nevada 59-49.  Elle Ruffridge scored 23 points for the Indians.
