DES MOINES, Iowa -- Volunteers with Forest Avenue Outreach helped people garden on Saturday in the metro.

The nonprofit group strives to create unity, peace and love with all people regardless of religion, gender or race. They grow potatoes, peas, and other vegetables on 18th Street in Des Moines.

"In my definition of success, that is it when neighbors see what I’m doing and want to replicate it and grow their own food and want me to help them do that,” said Ralph Chiodo, President and Founder of Forest Avenue Outreach.

The next event will be Saturday, April 2 at the same location from 10 a.m. until noon.
