President Barack Obama wants D.C. District Court Judge Merrick Garland to fill the spot on the U.S. Supreme Court. Republicans lead by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley say no, it’s too late, let the next president get this opportunity.

Garland has some family ties to Iowa.

Gov. Terry Branstad is Garland’s second cousin.

WHO-TV political director Dave Price wanted to know if Branstad thinks his cousin should get a fair shot to make his case to Grassley’s Judiciary Committee. Or, does he think Republicans should stand firm?

Branstad’s answer was not short.
