DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa -- The fourth person killed in Saturday's deadly crash has been identified by authorities.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety's Iowa State Patrol Division and the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner have identified the driver of the Ford Taurus involved in the multiple-fatality crash as Benjamin E. Beary, 25, of Knoxville, Iowa.

Authorities say Beary was driving the wrong way on I-80 near Waukee when he struck a Des Moines Police Department SUV head-on before bursting into flames.

The two officers inside the SUV, Susan Farrell, 30, and Carlos Puente-Morales, 34, were killed as well as the woman the officers were transporting from Council Bluffs to Des Moines, Tosha Hyatt, 32.

The Beary family's attorney released a statement to the Knoxville Journal Express and it reads in part:

"We know Ben was watching basketball games Friday night with friends. We know he would never intentionally cause this pain. We hope that the police are able to piece together what happened next. But whatever information they find will not diminish the pain we feel at losing Ben at a young age."

Police continue to investigate the deadly crash.
