Father of 3-Month-Old on Life Support Charged

GRAND RIVER, Iowa – A 3-month-old is on life support in Des Moines and his father was arrested in Decatur County.

At approximately noon on Monday, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department received a call stating a 3-month-old infant was having difficulties breathing. Emergency crews were dispatched to 446 Washington St. in Grand River where they found the infant unresponsive.

The infant was later flown to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines where the infant remains on life support, according to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office. The extent of the infant’s injuries is not being released at this time.

On Tuesday, the infant’s father, Joshua Russell Guill, 25, of Decatur County was arrested and charged with child endangerment causing serious injury.

Guill is being held in Decatur County Jail on $10,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information has been released at this time.
