DES MOINES, Iowa -- The fertile grounds at Principal Park have helped produce the World Series favorites.

Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, Jake Arrieta and Addison Russell headline the impressive list of former I-Cubs now playing for the big league team in Chicago.

The next wave of future Chicago Cubs players made their way to Des Moines for the first practice of the season, and after a couple months in Arizona, it's a little bit of a shock.

The I-Cubs roster filled out nicely with the second, sixth, 12th and 13th ranked prospects in the Cubs organization. That includes the top catching prospect, Willson Contreras, and pitcher Carl Edwards Jr.

The I-Cubs play their home opener on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Principal Park
