URBANDALE, Iowa -- One person is in the Polk County Jail after an early morning chase in Polk County Monday.
The chase began in Johnston and ended in Urbandale after a Polk County deputy used a pit maneuver to disable the suspect’s vehicle at 104th Street and Meredith Drive around 3:45 a.m.
Sgt. Brandon Bracelin, with the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, said the suspect, 18-year-old Eric Aljets, sideswiped one deputy’s vehicle and rammed two others during the chase. Police say Aljets was checked out at a local hospital before being transferred to the Polk County Jail.
Aljets faces one charge of eluding, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of reckless driving.
