WATKINS, Iowa -- One person is dead and two others are hurt following a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in Watkins.
Authorities say 32-year-old David Janish of Cedar Rapids failed to pull over for a traffic violation and led police on a high-speed chase on Monday.
Witnesses say Janish lost control of his vehicle when he hit railroad tracks. The car then veered off the road, hitting a tree in the front lawn of a home.
Janish was killed in the crash.
Two passengers in the car were taken to the hospital, with one of them sustaining life-threatening injuries.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash, and they say the three people in the car were seen tossing items out of the car during the chase.
