DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines police are still looking for the person they say shot one man and stabbed another this weekend.

The two incidents happened just 30 minutes apart. The first call -- a fight turned stabbing -- came in around 2:30 Sunday morning. It happened inside the parking garage at 3rd and Court Avenue.

The next -- a shooting call-- came in around 3 a.m. at a home on Jefferson Avenue.

When police first got to the parking garage they found a man who had been stabbed in the stomach, groin, and leg. They believe it happened following an argument about the girlfriend of one of the men.

A police report says the man punched the girl's boyfriend. The boyfriend then responded by stabbing him.  The injured man was able to drive himself to the hospital for treatment.

Just a half hour later police responded to a shooting at a home along Jefferson Avenue.

A witness claims the same boyfriend who just committed the stabbing shot another man at the home. The shooting victim is expected to survive.

Police have not made any arrests in the case but do have the name of the suspect.
