OSKALOOSA, Iowa — Water is now safe to drink 48 hours after the Iowa Department of Natural Resources issued a boil order for Mahaska County residents.

The advisory was issued for Oskaloosa and Beacon on Tuesday after two water towers emptied overnight due to a pump malfunction.

City officials say water was collected and tested at 11 locations and the samples were void of bacteria.
