AMES, Iowa – Two people were injured Monday morning in Ames after a cement truck came into contact with an overhead power line.

Ames officials say Kevin Keech, 54, and Matthew Rhodes, 46, were operating in or near the concrete truck at 3505 Lincoln Way when the accident happened about 9 a.m.

Keech is an employee with Iowa State Ready Mix and Rhodes is employed by Hetzler and Rhodes Concrete Construction. Both men were treated at Mary Greeley Medical Center, but Keech was later transported to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

The construction site is a private, mixed-use redevelopment project.

The accident caused an outage that left more than 100 people without power for a few hours in west Ames. The power was restored by 11:04 a.m.
