AMES, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation will shut down parts of I-35 again.
The southbound lanes were closed briefly Wednesday near Highway 30 about 9:50 a.m. after a 6-inch divot opened in the road.
The hole has been fixed, but one lane of traffic remains closed around that patch.
The DOT said both southbound lanes of I-35 will close Thursday between U.S. 30 and Iowa 210 in Story County close starting at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday, weather permitting, for emergency roadway patching and repair. The DOT originally said the road will close at 8 p.m. Thursday, but that time has been changed to an hour earlier.
Drivers will be detoured to U.S. 30 to U.S. 69, to Iowa 210 and then back to I-35. Expect delays in the area during high traffic times and take alternate routes if possible.
