DES MOINES, Iowa — Metro marathoners will be running a new route across the city this fall.
Des Moines IMT Marathon officials say the construction boom in downtown Des Moines will force them to change their route for the Oct. 16 race.
By that time, the Grand Avenue river bridge will be gone and a number of other projects will prompt road closures.
The races will now all start and end at Cowles Commons. The courses will include a climb up Capitol Hill and around the Blue Oval (click here for the full marathon map).
