DAVENPORT. Iowa — One person has died after a house fire in eastern Iowa.

It happened just after midnight Tuesday in Davenport at a home in the 5800 block of North Pine Street.

Firefighters say there were five people in the house when the fire broke out. Four of them were able to escape on their own but one man had to be pulled from the home. He was taken to a Davenport hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials have not released the name of the fire victim.

Two dogs and a cat died in the fire.

Investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the fire.
