URBANDALE, Iowa -- Video from Urbandale police officers' body cameras has been released. The three officers involved in the hotel shootout in February were cleared of charges Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched to the Holiday Inn at 4800 Merle Hay Road about 4 a.m. on Feb. 13 after a report of drug use at the hotel.drug complaint.

Police were forced to respond with deadly force, and the body camera video explains why.

After entering the lobby, officers confronted 29-year-old Ali Eisa Abdalla Yahia, of Des Moines, and two women.

The women managed to run outside of the hotel, and Yahia shoved an officer, trying to do the same.

One of the officers wrestled Yahia to the ground. He refused to show them his hands, keeping one tucked underneath himself. That's when he fired a shot at the officers. Officers returned fire and he was hit.Urbandale Police Department

Yahia succumbed to his injuries.

The  officers were identified as  Sgt. Jeff Casey, Officer Anthony Brooks and Officer Justice Weaver.

The Polk County Attorney's Office said Wednesday the Grand Jury review of the shooting returned no indictments.

The Urbandale Police Department completed its internal investigation, which found the officers were following departmental policies in their use of force.

After Yahia was killed, Des Moines police tied him to a murder investigation. Police say blood evidence proves Yahia beat and stabbed 71-year-old Jean McNeeley to death in January.
