DES MOINES, Iowa -- A superhero-themed bike ride was held Saturday in Des Moines.

The proceeds from the event will help Prevent Child Abuse Iowa as the organization provides support, education and the resources needed to make families stronger and children safer.

"We are a statewide organization and we have councils that we work with across our state," said Andria Lang, Development Director of Superhero Bike Ride. "Basically, we provide education for families to help them before they get to the abuse stage. We aren't dealing with abuse children, we are providing educational opportunities, budget training, helping people get their driver's license, and other things that can cause stress and eventually lead to abuse."

The organization raises close to $35,000 each year.
