ANKENY, Iowa — Authorities have released new information Wednesday about an incident involving a driving instructor in February.
Ankeny police say an adult female reported an incident Feb. 29 that an Iowa Department of Transportation Examiner showed her a sexually explicit video on a cellphone during a driving exam. She said the examiner showed her the video without her consent while parked in a business parking lot in Ankeny.
The examiner told her she would not pass the driving test if she told anyone about the encounter.
The cellphone that contained the explicit material was later identified as the personal property of 60-year-old John Wayne Alexander, of Des Moines. He was arrested on March 8 and charged with third-degree harassment and felonious misconduct in office.
The Iowa Department of Transportation was immediately notified and has fully cooperated with authorities.
