Scattered rain stopped farmers from finishing up planting this last week according to the Iowa Crop Progress report.
There were only three days good for fieldwork, with some reports of standing water in some fields.
Soybean planting is 88 percent complete, nine days ahead of last year and 10 days ahead of the five-year average.
Emergence is also ahead of schedule at 55 percent.
The west side of the state is struggling the most to finish beans and have them emerge.
Corn is pretty much all planted and 90 percent of it has emerged, two days ahead of last year, 77 percent of that is rated in good to excellent condition.
Soil moisture levels jumped from last week about four percentage points to around 15 percent.
