DES MOINES, Iowa -- In 2015, the Principal Charity Classic had its best year in terms of raising money for local children charities. When it was all said and done, they raised almost $1.4 million.

“Everything we do here at the tournament goes to kids here in central Iowa and the charities here,” said Greg Conrad, tournament director. “That is what is most important.”

The tournament will celebrates its 10th anniversary of partnering with Principal this year and it been a successful run.

”Over the last 10 years, with Principal as the title sponsor, we’ve donated almost $8 million to kids’ charities,” said Conrad. “If you purchase a ticket, consider that a donation made or if you’re volunteering that is a donation made back to the kids.”

In addition, to the record they set last year for donations, organizers also saw their best year in ticket sales. Almost 77,000 people made their way to Wakonda. Tickets are still available to this year’s event and spectators will notice one big addition, The Green Canyon.

”What we’ve tried to do is, we tried to set up our finishing holes, 16th and 17th holes as the place to be,” said Conrad. “If you want to watch an exciting finish to the Principal Charity Classic, the Mid-American Energy Green Canyon will have everything you need and you’ll see all the golf you want without going anywhere.”

Tickets are still available and prices start at as little as $20 per day.
