NEVADA, Iowa -- Alexander Kozak will not be getting a new trial and is set to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Kozak was initially convicted last month of the shooting death of 20-year-old Andrea Farrington inside Coral Ridge Mall last year.

Kozak was a security guard at the mall and had a relationship with Farrington.

On Monday, his request for a new trial was denied and he was given the maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.

Kozak is also required to pay $150,000 in restitution to Farrington's estate.
