14-Year-Old Shenandoah Student Hit by Car, Killed During Cross Country Practice

SHENANDOAH, Iowa – A Shenandoah student died on Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle while running across a highway during cross country practice.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to a fatal accident at the intersection of Highway 2 and A Avenue in Shenandoah.

Authorities say, Kinsee Rooker, 14, of Shenandoah was running southbound on A Avenue during a cross country practice. As she crossed the highway, she was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Brent McKinnon, 27, of Clarinda.

Rooker died at the scene, according to authorities.
