DES MOINES, Iowa — If you want to live in one of the safest states in the United States, Iowa is a good place to be.

According to WalletHub, Iowa is the 10th safest state nationwide.

Analysts compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on 25 safety metrics. The data set ranges from “number of assaults per capita” to “unemployment rate” to “estimated losses from climate disasters.”

Iowa ranked No. 6 on home and community safety and financial safety. Surprisingly, the state ranked relatively low, at No. 41, for workplace safety and safety from natural disasters.
