Police: Student Hit, Killed by Train in Osceola

OSCEOLA, Iowa — One person was killed Monday after being hit by a train.

The Osceola Police Department says authorities were called to a pedestrian-train accident near the Osceola Train Depot about 12:18 p.m.

The victim’s name is being withheld at this time, but police did say the victim is a student in the Clarke Community School District. The school is offering grief counseling Monday until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until noon at Clarke Middle School.

The Osceola Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol are investigating the incident.
