All Severe T-Storm Watches have been canceled for those in central Iowa, however weak storms continue to move along the northern border of the state. These storms are expected to last through the late morning hours before clearing up this afternoon.

The main thing to focus on today is the heat. As the clouds clear temperatures will climb quickly. The majority of central Iowa will see temperatures reaching the lower 90s by the afternoon, but added humidity will up heat index values to 100°+.

A Heat Advisory will go into effect for southern Iowa at noon and continue until 7 pm. This is where heat index values will be the highest.

If you are planning on being outside for an extended period of time today, drinking lots of water and taking breaks in the shade will help prevent heat induced illnesses.
