While you're staying cool this summer, a local organization is asking you to help keep others comfortable as well.

There are six items Hope Ministries has a great need for this season.

Kathy Coady joined the Channel 13 News at Four to explain the importance of donating this summer.

Hope Ministries invites community members to help meet the needs of homeless and hungry central Iowans by donating summer needs.

The top six needed donations: toothpaste, toilet paper, paper towels, high-efficiency laundry detergent, men’s razors and men’s deodorant.

“Sometimes the simplest items can make a huge difference. These everyday donations will help us keep our homeless guests clean and comfortable this summer. We’re grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Leon Negen, President of Hope Ministries.
