Chet Culver Named President of YMCA of Greater Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa – Channel 13 News has learned that former Iowa Governor Chet Culver has been named President of the YMCA of Greater Iowa.

Culver, who served as governor from 2007 until 2011, currently serves as CEO of The Culver Group, an energy consulting company.

“Governor Culver will be an important part of our leadership team of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines,” YMCA CEO Dave Schwartz, said. Adding Culver, “has a tremendous personal commitment and passion for the YMCA mission and its values. So I have no doubt he will be extremely effective in helping to spread our message.”

“I’m very honored and excited about this opportunity to serve our vibrant community as the President of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines,” Culver said. “I’m very anxious to get started in this new endeavor. Most importantly, I look forward to getting out across central Iowa to share the YMCA story, do what I can to make a difference and help improve the quality of life for countless Iowans.”
