Even though there was a little rain in the last week, the state is still getting dryer. Topsoil moisture decreased to 33 percent short to very short.

According to the Iowa crop progress report, there were 5.5 days good for fieldwork.
Six percent of the corn crop has gone to the silking stage, 14 percent in central Iowa and 79 percent of the corn crop is rated good or excellent across the state.
Soybean blooming is at 20 percent, about two days ahead of last year and the five day average. There were scattered reports of soybeans setting pods. Soybean conditions are rated at 77 percent good or excellent.
