Ames Man Suffers Gunshot Wound to Leg, Police Investigating

AMES, Iowa -- An Ames man is recovering from a gunshot wound after being shot early Sunday morning.

At approximately 6 a.m., Ames police responded to the Story County Medical Center in Nevada regarding a report of a male who was being treated for a gunshot wound.

According to the victim and a witness, they were walking near Hayward Avenue and Knapp Street at approximately 3:30 a.m. when an unidentified person fired several gunshots at them.

The victim was shot in the leg and later transported to the Story County Medical Center.

The victim`s condition and name have not be released at this time.
