15 People Treated for Chemical Exposure While Detasseling

BEAMAN, Iowa - More than a dozen people were treated for chemical exposure while detasseling Thursday afternoon.

At about 4:30 p.m., a detasseling crew  was working on a Grundy County farm when a nearby tractor applied an herbicide in close proximity to the workers. The workers complained of difficulty breathing, itchy eyes and skin.

15 people were transported to Central Iowa Healthcare in Marshalltown for treatment. 14 were treated and released, one person remained hospitalized Thursday evening.
