Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says hope is dimming for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), because there are now anti-TPP planks in both Democrat and Republican convention platforms.
Grassley says, "If President Obama were to put it before the Congress 90 days before it could be voted on by Congress then it would be a problem for Hillary Clinton. And even though it would pass and be a legacy for this president. A positive one. It would be very negative for Hillary Clinton."
Clinton publicly opposes TPP in her campaign and so does Donald Trump, even though Clinton pushed for the trade agreement when she was President Obama's Secretary of State.
Grassley says, "He'd rather have her succeed him than Trump, so I don't think there's much chance it could come up either in this presidency or next year unless Hillary Clinton, and or, change their mind."
Grassley says no TPP is a win for China and loss for U.S. trading partners.
