Crops Growing Ahead of Schedule

Timely rains this week helped out the crops according to the Iowa Crop Progress Report.
About 67% of the corn crop is at the silking stage, five days ahead of last year and a week ahead of normal and reports across the state had some corn at the dough stage. Corn conditions improved slightly to 81% good to excellent.
Soybeans blooming are at 66% with pods setting on 20% of the Iowa crop. Both stages are four days ahead of last year and five days ahead of the five year average. Soybean conditions are at 80% good or excellent.
Topsoil moisture has also recovered across the stage, only 15% is short to very short moisture.
