GRIMES, Iowa - Investigators spent Friday on the scene of a home in Grimes where officials found a deceased juvenile male and an unresponsive adult woman.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Friday, crews responded to the home, located in the 300 block of NW Valleyview Drive, after receiving a 911 call.

Authorities have identified the boy as 2-year-old Mason Wyckoff. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause and manner of death of Wyckoff are pending on the completion of an autopsy.

The unresponsive woman has been identified as Mason's mother, 33-year-old Stephenie Erickson. She was transported to a local hospital and is in serious condition.

Few details have been released but the family said that the case may involve an ongoing custody dispute. Authorities say both Myckoff and Erickson reside at the home where the incident happened in Grimes.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating.
