CHARITON, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has lifted the boil advisory for Chariton.

The DNR made the new announcement Wednesday.

The boil advisory was initially put in place Monday, after a water main break in town caused the system to lose pressure. With the loss of pressure came the chance for bacterial contamination.

The DNR says tests from two sets of water samples show the water is safe to drink.
