BUENA VISTA COUNTY, Iowa -- Three people are behind bars in Buena Vista County due to a stolen lottery ticket.

20-year-old Ashley Bosler claims she found a $250,000 winning ticket while she was working at a Casey’s. But because she's too young, Bosler asked her boyfriend, 26-year-old Johnny Long, to pay for it.

Lottery officials refused to approve the payout after noticing scribbling on the back of the ticket.

The couple is now facing theft charges.

Also charged in this case, 42-year-old Sally Bosler.

Investigators say she gave her daughter $20 to pay for the already-scratched ticket.

If convicted all three could spend five years behind bars.
