A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until noon for parts of southern Iowa. These areas are already soaked from the 3-7″ of rain that fell yesterday. Another 1-3″ will be possible through noon.

Skies should slowly clear out a bit this afternoon, leading to hot and steamy weather the next couple of days. Highs in the low to mid-90s on Wednesday and Thursday will push the heat index to around 100 once again.

The summer weather will be here to stay throughout most of the week, but as the pattern remains unsettled there will also be several chances for showers and storms. By Friday, temperatures look to slip back into the 80s which will continue through the first half of the weekend.
