Iowa Man Dies From Fall While Hiking Mountain in California with Son

An Iowa man died while hiking a mountain in California with his son on Thursday.

The incident happened on Mount Shasta. Siskiyou County Deputies say 54-year-old James Sieleman fell down an ice-covered slope about 12,000 feet up the mountain.

His 16-year-old son called for help and the two were eventually lifted from the mountain by a helicopter.

Sieleman was pronounced dead on board.

His son was not hurt.
