Police: Juveniles, Ages 15 and 12, Burglarize Fort Dodge Convenience Store

FORT DODGE, Iowa — Fort Dodge police say they took two juveniles into custody early Wednesday morning in connection with the burglary of a convenience store and one of them assaulted a police officer.

Police were called to Sparky’s at 207 2nd Street NW around 2:00 a.m. on a burglary in progress. A nearby resident witnessed the crime and called police with a description of the suspects. When police arrived they found two males, 15 and 12, inside the business.

They were arrested and police determined the two were runaways from the Rabiner Treatment Center.

Both are charged with third degree burglary and second degree criminal mischief. Police say while they juveniles were being processed one of them became combative and spit in an officer’s face. The juvenile faces an additional charge of assault on a peace officer with bodily fluids.

Police have not named the two suspects because they are juveniles. They are being held in a juvenile detention facility.
