IOWA CITY, Iowa --  It wasn't pretty at times but the No. 17 Iowa Hawkeyes won their first game of the season on Saturday, 45-21 over the Redhawks of Miami (OH).

Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard threw for 192 yards and a touchdown in the win.

The Hawkeyes did most of their damage on the ground. Akrum Wadley rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns while Leshun Daniels added 83 yards and two touchdowns.

The Redhawk offense was able to move the ball on Iowa, racking up 424 yards of offense. However, Iowa forced three Miami turnovers to help turn the Redhawks away.

Redshirt freshman Anthony Nelson, a Waukee native, had a big day for the Iowa defense as he recorded 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Iowa is home again next week for the Cy-Hawk showdown against Iowa State.
