DES MOINES, Iowa — A popular fall tradition takes over downtown Des Moines starting Friday afternoon.

Oktoberfest gets underway on 4th Street with the tapping of the golden keg at 3:00 p.m.

Organizers are expecting this year’s event to be the biggest ever. Over the next twp days, they expect to see almost 50,000 people take part in the festivities.

There will be food, polka, and most importantly — beer.

The event runs from Friday afternoon through Saturday night. Tickets are $10.
