An Evansdale man jumped into the Cedar River to save a deer on Saturday night.

The man, who didn't want to be named or interviewed, jumped in the river with his life jacket on and pulled the animal to safety.

Witnesses say without him, the deer might not have made it out safely.

"The police department said they couldn't do anything," said Trazon Walker. "They said she is just going to have to swim to shore."

The man who rescued the deer decided to take the deer out of town and then release it to the wild.
