JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Jen Garcia, the mother of a Johnston Little League all-star, has passed away after a lengthy and well-known battle with pancreatic cancer.

The story of Jen and her son J.T. initially drew national headlines in August during Johnston's impressive run in the Little League World Series.

In a game against California, J.T. hit a home run for Johnston, but what made it even better was the fact that Jen was being interviewed live on television as the play happened. The heartwarming moment immediately went viral.

In order to attend the tournament, Jen had to take IV's while in Williamsport. She said at the time she wouldn't miss the World Series for anything.

On Tuesday morning, Jenn passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

The visitation for Jen will be held Thursday from 5-8 p.m at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the same location.

The video below is the original story from the Little League World Series involving Jen. It was published on Aug. 20.
