FORT DODGE, Iowa — A Fort Dodge business has some cleaning up to do after a late night fire left its building in pieces.

Around 7:30 p.m. Thursday firefighters responded to the Fort Dodge Asphalt Company at 2125 Parker Drive. When fire crews arrived they found it was engulfed in flames. Witnesses even heard several explosions coming from the building.

Firefighters worked into the night battling the flames but it wasn’t enough, they confirm the building is a total loss.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating what caused the fire.
